FOUR GENERATIONS OF MATTOX'S
Joseph C. Mattox, president of Mattox Customcraft, has been doing body work since he was 15 years old. He started fixing wrecked cars and painting tractors out of his father’s garage.
S.L. Mattox had a business of his own back then, Mattox Sales. Sherwood sold cars and tractors from the lot where Mattox Customcraft now stands. Joe graduated from the very first collision repair class offered by Rolla Vo-tech. After graduation, he worked for himself then Modern Garage, Tucker Ford, and Autocrafts all in Sullivan, Missouri.
Then, in 1993 Joe and Cindy decided to purchase the land that S.L. Mattox Sales formerly sat in Bourbon Missouri, and build a small repair shop . Throughout the years that followed, the business and the family grew, adding on to the building and employees as well. Joe's wife, Cindy, his daughter Melissa and Son Ian, Joe's sisters Kathy and Tammy have also worked in the office and shop. Even Joes son-in-law, Seth and nephews Jeremy and Jason have had their hand in helping to make Mattox Customcraft the family run business it is today! Many in Bourbon have either bought or had a car repaired by a Mattox, and will recount it fondly. We like to Keep it in the family as it were, keeping this business family owned is one of its charms.
